Transform young people's life chances AND develop your team.
Highbury Grove School is looking for business people to share their expertise and raise the aspirations of 16-19 year old BTEC students.
Highbury Grove is the only school in the borough to offer the Career Academy programme, which embeds business support directly in the young people's coursework via guest speakers in the classroom; visits to the workplace; one-to-one mentoring and summer internships. Across the UK, 1500 employee volunteers from 400 organisations contribute time and skills to a Career Academy. They help, for example, to expand students' understanding of business etiquette, practice employability skills such as time management, problem solving, CV writing or interview techniques, and widen their networks of business contacts.
Importantly, it is not just the students who benefit. Engaging with a Career Academy can enhance staff development or approaches to employee diversity.
If you can offer as little as a couple of hours a year to help our business people of the future, call Lynda Franklin at Highbury Grove school on 020 7288 8969. Find out more about the career Academy movement on www.careeracademies.org.uk
