The chamber runs a regular programme of events aimed at providing a mix of social and informative events to help members share information and develop their businesses. There are normally around 10 a year with a mixture of lunchtime and evening and a variety of venues. Our annual flagship event is the Festive Lunch held at the renowned Frederick's in Camden Passage on the last Monday in November. Always very popular. This programme is supplemented by advising members of relevant events put on by other organisations with whom we work. Typically, these would be organised by the business development departments of the universities or by the business advice organisations in the borough.
During the course of 2007 we have introduced a Women in Business forum which has proved very popular and has scheduled events into 2008.
Suggestions for additional events are always welcome and all we ask is that if you do suggest something then you take a hand in organising it; why not suggest a topic close to your own heart or join forces with another member to promote a business sector. Feel free to talk to Andrew Mortimer on 020 7970 5670 |

| Some 75 members and guests gathered at Frederick's on November 26th for the annual Festive Lunch. Lots of new faces and plenty of old hands were able to enjoy there pre lunch drinks on the terrace thanks in part to a mild day and in part to the heaters!
President Paul Richardson welcomed the official guests, James Kempton Leader of the Council, Terry Stacy Deputy Leader and Helen Bailey the Chief Executive. After that he conducted an admirably brief review of the chamber's activities over the year and once again thanked Michael Simmonds, Lynne Burdon and Howard Moss for their long service on the Executive Committee.
The pictorial quiz, sponsored by Step Ahead and compiled by David Gibson, proved immensely popular and highly competitive with the President?s table running out comfortable winners to the delight of the Leader.
As has become customary, once the lunch was over Andrew led those intent on making an afternoon of it down to the Camden Head where the networking continued into the evening. |

| A very well supported joint event between the chamber and members of the Islington Business Partnership was held as part or National Enterprise Week on November 16th.
Speakers Mathew Lintott from Waste Minimisation and Laura Hales from the Climate Change Partnership both gave very informative talks on their respective subjects and many of those present went away full of ideas on how to improve their personal and business practices.
They were followed by Sarah Hazzard, the Councils Marketing Manager who provided some top ten tips for marketing in small organisations. |

| On November 6th, Terry Mullins aka The Reluctant Salesman provided a fascinating insight into his very different approach to selling. His courses are designed to create freedom and ease around selling rather than being seen as a stereotypical salesperson. The audience had a number of interesting questions around a variety of issues and it all added up to a thoroughly worthwhile event. Our thanks to The Window for sponsoring the venue and looking after us so well as they always do.
The WiB event scheduled for December 6th has been postponed; it is a difficult time to mount events and it was thought best to hold the next one in the new year. |

| On Hallowe'en night Consultant Structural and Civil Engineers Conisbees celebrated their 25th anniversary in appropriate fashion by transforming their Offord Street offices into a dark and spooky environment. Clients, friends and maybe even a ghost or two subdued their fears with canapés and champagne.
The consultancy began back in 1982 with work on the Almeida Theatre, their first and longest standing client. Further work with the Old Royal Free Hospital in the 80s began the growth to what is now a 65 strong practice with expertise across all sectors of the building industry. Conisbee are currently working on projects all over London and as far afield as Kiev but still retain their roots and links in Islington.

| The Chamber's 2007 AGM was held June 28th on the Roof Terrace of The Castle in Pentonville Rd. in the teeth of an intense cross wind which threatened to distribute the annual accounts throughout the borough. The wind also accounted for the wild and unkempt appearance of Manager Andrew Mortimer as shown in the picture.
Paul Richardson, to the left of Andrew was re-elected President and Barbara Page took on the mantle of Vice President replacing Jacky O?Leary who stood down from the Executive for a year.
The AGM was followed by a lively Summer Party attended by over 70 members and guests a few of whom are pictured.
